Its a tournament of the 65 best college basketball teams in America. They set up a playoff bracket and each team plays through it. Depending on how good you are, you get a seed. It runs until early April. It is single elimination so once you lose you are done. It is really quite interesting to follow. I love doing the brackets to see how many I get right. And ya its a big American thing.

NCAA BasketBall tourny is one of the best sports events of the year. I enjoy it way more then any Pro-Sports. Hockey is the only Pro-Sport that is worth a damn. Well the Masters Golf Tourny is one of my favorites as well.

There are always great games down the stretch in the NCAA March Madness. Very exciting....not "Show-time" like the NBA.

Printed out like 20 copies of the brackets and passed them around, waiting for the cash to roll in.

We should start up our own little GWG Bracket on like yahoo or something. Have our own private league to see who really is the best at bracketology. I have won my league the past 4 years running now. Plan on winning it for a 5th year.

Yes anyways... since we have alreayd stated all of that. Here it is folks, my picks and beef with the selections made!! Get ready!

I'll start things off in the Atlanta Bracket:
The #1 seed in the Tournament starts here, Duke University! No suprise after winning the ACC Confrence. They deserved it, and got it. Alright my pick for coming out of this bracket is, Duke is going over Texas. Texas may have lost to Kansas in the Big 12 but they are no push over. If they can get the right guys going they are going to be tough to beat. Look forward to a great game between those two in the regional final.

My Beef:
Alright Here is the problem with this bracket, Cal got a 7 seed after goint 20-10, they face off against N.C. State, the number 10 seed, State went 21-9. That is my only complaint really, those to should be flip flopped. Either way though, I see N.C. State coming out on top.

Next up is the Oakland Regional:
#1 seed is Memphis, they are the lowest of the #1 seeds, though they have the same record as Duke. (30-3). Though they have a strong record I just don't seem them getting to the Final Four. I think that they will get beat by a motivated Gonzaga team. The 'Zags are lead by Morrison who has better stats the Dukes JJ Redick. Gonzaga only got a #3 seed, probably due to the fact that their stregnth of schedule is not as good as UCLA. I still see the 'Zags over Memphis in the Regional Final.

My Beef:
Gonzaga deserves the #2 seed in this region. UCLA was #15 in the nation Saturday March 4th, the weekend before the selection show. They didn't win their Confrence title, I just don't see them as a strong #2 seed. Also giving Indiana a 6 seed? What were they thinking? IU was 18-11, they face San Diego State who got here by winning their confrence Tournament. SDS is 24-8. Shouldn't they be the #6 seed and IU the #11 seed?

Next up Washington D.C:
No surprise, UConn is the #1 seed, despite getting beat on a last second shot by Syracuse in the Confrence Tourny. Althought they look like a lock to get in, I am feeling the North Carolina Tar Heels to knock them off. UNC has been on a roll as of late. They are a young team and are just starting to get used to playing each other. They knocked off Duke @ Duke and lost a close one to Boston College. I see UNC knocking off heavily favored UConn in a wire-to-wire game.

My Beef:
Tennessee a 2 seed? No that isnt right. Sure they were seeded 11th in the nation as of March, 4th but they had lost to some teams they should of beat. I was not impressed at all with the Vols this year. They showed me nothing. They are a streaky team that defiently was out of the groove in the Confrence Tourny. Also Air Force is in? Yes they are a 13 seed but you choose Air Force over Missouri State (21 in RPI), Kent State (30 in RPI) and Cincinati (32in RPI)?? Those are quality teams right there yet you put in untested Air Force? I don't see the logic in that.

Second to last, the Minneapolis Bracket:
Villanova is the #1 seed here. No suprise and they should make it out of here. Their main fears should be Ohio State (#2 seed), Flordia (#3 seed), and Boston College (#4 seed). Boston College will be the first team they will have to face. As of late BC has been playing teams tough. They beat UNC by 2 points and then barely lost to Duke by 2. Though i think BC's luck is about to run out, they are a good team but they were quiet up until the confrence tourny. Flordia is good but they tend to beat themselves at times. I think they will lose to a more consistent Ohio State team. Yet still Villanova should make it out and to the Final Four.

My Beef:
By far this is the best bracket. I have no beef with it really. All the seeds here are deserving of the rank they got. Only good bracket in my eyes. Hardest to get out of though, IMO.

Its here, I pwnd U's Final Four:
Duke will take out Gonzaga in the battle of top rated teams. Gonzaga was ranked 5th in the nation as of March 4th, while Duke remained at #1. Duke will make it out of this game thanks to superior shooters and a stronger inside presence. The only way I see Gonzaga pulling an upset is if they can get Sheldon Williams in foul trouble early on. Duke should get to the Championship game though.

UNC and Villanova round out the Final Four. While UNC vs Duke would be an ideal championship game, I don't see it happening. UNC is too young and the inexprience will get to them in a game against a more seasoned team such as Villanova. Villanova will win this game in a close one.

The Championship!!!
Villanova over Duke. Thats right I think Nova will pull it out in a gutsy one agianst Duke. Duke is 0-3 (I think) vs Big East teams in the Final Four and championship games as of late. (All were to UConn) I just see Villanova shutting down Dukes outside shooters and containing Sheldon Williams. Villanova should be your National Champions.

These are my predictions. I know i didn't go over it game game but that would of taken forever. I realize that I have a chance of being wrong, but lets just see how accurate I am. Please feel free to rebuk any points I made and state your own case. I do love a good discussion.

Pwnd?!? I didn't see anything about my Beloved Michigan State. Now if they can get by N.C. Tarheels then I would say they will make it to the Final Four. Remember, State has Coach Izzo...He knows how to get to the Final Four.

Yes i do agree with you, if Izzo can get his boys past UNC they should be on their way to the Final Four. I think they would of been much more deserving of a higher seed then the likes of UCLA and Tennessee. MSU doesn't have an easy road their though as they got ranked 6th. That is gonna make it even harder for them. Though I do agree, if they get past my Tar Heels they are going all the way. I just don't see anyone else in that bracket who could stop them when they get their deadly triangle of three working. Should be interesting.

There should be some kind of limit set on the NBA recruiting players from college. When Michigan State won the National title a few years ago two players quit and went into the NBA. One was a freshmen I think and the other was a sophomore. I can't remember their names now...(what does that tell ya?)

Still all in all college players should have to stay in college OR pay back the schools at double the price the schools coughed up for them. Something anyways...it has gotten plain stoopid anymore...

Anyways...this tourney should be a good one....I will not be playing GW on friday night around 7pm...

Yes i agree, Clarett left and he was only a sophomre, he was pretty much amazing but i think he got hurt that game as well, but ya college players should stay IN college. I wish good luck to your team Dood, hopefully they get to play UNC, i defiently will be watching that game. I wont be on Friday night around 8, got to watch Bradley get their butts kicked by Kansas.

UNC and State would be a good game....however, I have little faith in our team to beat them. They haven't been all that sharp this season. But then again...the NCAA tourney is a whole new season actually.

We should write a running play by play in here on that day. Would that be Sunday if they meet?
